When you get off the cruise ship you will be met by a warm and welcoming local driver. Then you will begin your journey from the comfort of their new, air conditioned mini-bus. The first destination is Pisa, which is only 30 minutes away. Here you will have time to look around by yourself and you can visit some of its most famous locations.
Be sure to take your classic photograph with the Leaning Tower of Pisa before moving to the Cathedral and Baptistery. Then it’s back on the mini-van for the next destination on the tour – the Renaissance city of Florence. While it is an hour away, the beautiful hills of Tuscany should keep you more than occupied during the drive.
On the way, you will stop at the Piazzale Michelangelo where you will be able to get your first view of enchanting Florence, in full panorama. Pictures are strongly advised! The mini-van will take you to the very centre of Florence where you will be able to see its many architectural beauties for yourself.
You will be able to visit the Church of Santa Croce where famous Italians such as Michelangelo and Galileo are buried. It is sure to be a humbling sight. There will be a gentle, picturesque, stroll by the River Arno so that you can see the Ponte Vecchio.
Of course, a tour of the beautiful Florence is only complete when you have seen the Duomo. It is crowned by Brunelleschi’s Dome, and you will also see the Baptistery with its truly amazing bronze doors and Giotto’s Bell Tower. There will be time for you to do your own exploring as well where you can shop for exquisite souvenirs, have a relaxing cup of coffee in one of the many cafes, or even go learn more about Florence at one of the museums.
We booked this tour few weeks before our cruise departure. It was me and my family. On the ship we met another family and we decided to share the minivan and the price.
